Fence Staining - Jan 2016

Hi everyone!  I just realized that I never shared the pictures from our fence staining a few months ago!  I think I was distracted at the time because we had a very busy January.  We got our new fence in December of 2015 and after the wood had a chance to dry out, our contractor came back in January of 2016 to stain.

At first, I was a bit apprehensive about the whole staining process.  It seemed like they would get stain all over our house, cars, and neighbors since they used a sprayer and not a paint brush.  Fortunately, my worry was unnecessary and the staining process went very smooth.
Top Left: They began by hand painting the portions of the fence closest to our house.
Bottom Left: Using the sprayer, they stained the top, bottom, and corners of the entire fence.  This fence is a whole foot taller than the last so I’m glad that we didn’t have to stain the fence ourselves.  No doubt, we’ll hand stain it again in 4-5 years to prolong the life of the fence.
Top Right: This is the exterior of the fence by our driveway.  They even put plastic down to protect the concrete and continually washed off the excess stain.  This picture makes the color look reddish orange but it’s actually pretty brown in person.
Bottom Right: This is the interior of the fence in our backyard.  Think they were about half way through the staining process at this point.

All in all, I’m very happy with the end result.  The oilbased stain smelled strong in our backyard for a few days.  The smell of wood and oilbased products reminds me of Jordan when we first started dating.  Every summer he worked on wood floors and would smell like sawdust and finish.  Good times…

The entire fence was stained in a couple of hours but Jordan kindly got a video of the process for me to share!
