Caramel and Hail

Last Tuesday we had such a fun opportunity to support one of our favorite businesses, Dallas Caramel Company!  We were invited to the open house event for DCC and got to see our friend, Rain!  Not to mention that we got to wrap (and eat) a few caramels!

Top Left: Rain and I!  We are standing in front of their company map because Rain is making fast progress getting caramels into every state across the country!
Bottom: These caramels are so decadent!  This is her Sea Salt flavor.  It's hard to pick just one flavor but Sea Salt sure is at the top of my list.

Top Left: These bins were nearly empty at the time of the photo, but normally they are full of different flavors of caramel!  I can't imagine being around this much deliciousness on a daily basis!
Right: At the open house event, DCC allowed everyone to wrap a few caramels to take home so I snapped this pic of Jordan.  I promise that he isn't as creepy as he looks in this picture...lol!
Bottom Left: DCC makes a "Drunken Nut" flavor which is A-mazing!  These are pecans soaking in authentic Texas whiskey.  It's tough to beat that flavor! (It's on my list too!)

Right: I got to wrap some of her turtle flavors too!  DCC makes Horned Toads, Tumbleweeds, and Armadillos!  Of the turtle category, my fav is the Tumbleweeds.

Later in the week we had a bit of a shift in the Texas weather.  Tis to be expected this time of year I suppose...

Anyway, Thursday night Abby and I were snuggling and getting ready for bed around 10:30 ish.  We heard a few tap-taps on the bedroom windows but it quickly escalated to a loud pelting sound on the the windows.  Needless to say, Abby was totally FREAKED out and shivering in my arms.  It sounded like a train right outside our house and there wasn't much we could do except stay away from the windows and move the center of the house.  Eek!

Luckily, the hail storm didn't last long.  We thought it was about a 10 minute hail storm start to finish and fortunately it was only small sized hail (dime to marble).

So far, we haven't noticed any significant damage to the roof or house but time will tell if we have a leak.  Our trees and plants got torn up and Jordan's truck took a hard beating.  Some areas near us got hit much worse though.  We have a friend who's skylights shattered and they had golf ball sized hail and rain pouring into their home!  If you were hit by the storm, we sincerely hope everyone is safe!
These are a few pictures of the hail from our backyard.

Lastly, I leave you with this "goodbye" picture!  We are babysitting Smaug Sophie and this picture totally cracks me up.  Sophie and Abby have some serious sibling rivalry and they are always competing for attention.  In this picture, Sophie is hogging the space and you can barely see Abby photo bombing in the background.  So typical of these two trouble makers!
