Ice Cream Rolls and Meteor Fire

Hi All!  The weekends seem to get shorter and shorter!  I have a hodge-podge of pictures to share today starting with a little garden update.

Our little garden is small but it's been fun to watch our plants grow!
We have 2 planters that came with the Nutrient Patch.  Pictured above are tomato plants, 1 cucumber plant, a pea plant and a few herbs.  The tomato plants, in particular, are HUGE!  Hopefully some day soon we will have a crop to enjoy!

Top Left: Pop quiz!!! Is this cilantro or parsley?!  I feel ridiculous that I mixed up the two plants earlier this year (planted parsley when I thought it was cilantro).  This is cilantro pictured above!
Bottom Left: My pea plants have so many vines!  They are traveling up the cage I set up really quickly!  I love this picture of green against the red.
Top Right: Our pecan tree is very late to sprout leaves!  Only in the last few weeks did a little green peak out of the branches.  I don't mind the late bloomer at all because we always have green leaves well into the Fall/Winter.
Bottom Right: We have so many cherry tomatoes!  They are all clustered like grapes!

Saturday, we decided to get a little treat!  A friend of mine told me about "rolled ice cream."  It sounded strange but I did a little google search to see if we had any ice cream places near us that did this fancy trick.   We DID!  We decided to stop by the Snowflake Cafe!
Essentially, rolled ice cream is regular cream/sugar in liquid form that is poured over a very cold stainless steal table, chopped up, blended, and then spread out into a thin layer.  The last step is to roll the ice cream 1 row at a time to make small rolls!  It was very cool to watch!
Top Left: This is the first few steps where the cream is still a liquid and the artist is adding chopped up ingredients.
Bottom Left: This is the fully mixed ice cream spread out (like a pie crust) into the shape of a rectangle.
Right: This is the rolling step.  You can get about 6 rolls out of the ice cream in this picture.

This is a little video we took of the whole process!

Here is the finished product!
It's difficult to see under all the toppings but you can see rolls standing up on end in each cup!  It reminded me of an enchilada!

At the end of the day, I'd say this is a fun novelty/activity to do with friends but you/ wouldn't want to make a habit out of it for reasons of cost and calories.

Saturday night the temperature in the Dallas area dropped significantly!  We decided to have a little fire and then later watched the meteor shower.  Which, by the way, the meteor shower was AWESOME!  We saw easily 15-20 meteors even though it was a bit cloudy.
Top Left: Abby was also pretty cold.  She tucked herself tight between me and our bench swing and snuggled under my blanket.  Her personality (her hair) is finally growing back.
Top Right: This is us girls snuggled up!  I had a sweatshirt, blanket, and warm dog and Jordan was comfortable in shorts!
Bottom Left: Fire time!
Bottom Right: I decided to make a philly cheese steak inspired dinner using puff pastry.  I've never used puff pastry before but it was really easy and a great way to use up leftovers.  We used leftover steak, sauteed onions, and cheese to make these hot pockets and they turned out great!
