Downy Doggies and Feathery Fowl

We had a fun little getaway hanging out at the lake this past weekend.  At the lake, it's always a bit of a wild kingdom (animals and humans), so I seem to have a lot of pictures of animals to share with ya'll today.

Saturday, we had a good laugh watching Sophie try to destroy play with a wet towel.  Mom gave her a bath and Sophie was so excited to play the "towel game".  Basically, she treats the towel like a chew toy or some sort of carcass.  Hilarious pics below.
It's like she's thinking "must destroy towel"....and then "roll on it!"  That little wet dog went crazy.

We switched up meal time at the lake a bit and everyone decided to go to a local Mexican restaurant on Saturday evening.  It was a great treat and we got some nice pictures below.
Top Right: The waiter couldn't keep Jordan's water glass full so he brought Jordan a whole pitcher.
Middle Left: Cindy and Mom!  Couple of beautiful ladies, that's for sure.
Middle Right: Dad, Me, and Scott.  We are so glad to have Scott back in Texas.  I'm sure the Tex-Mex food in Virginia couldn't compare.  Can you tell we are all related in this pic?

Sunday morning, we cooked up a yummy breakfast outside in the pavilion.  A few months ago, mom and dad bought a really nice griddle.  It's huge and has all the space needed to cook for a small army (often the typical sized crowd at the lake).

Bacon, eggs, hash browns, and watermelon!
Scott and dad got creative with the grease catcher on the griddle.  In the bottom middle picture, they used an aluminum can for easy clean up.  Recycling at it's best!

After breakfast, Scott and AJ had a little fun playing with army men.  I think this is awesome.

After we got home from the lake, Jordan and I caught up on some chores around the house and decided to give Abby a bath.  She truly needs a haircut soon, but I love snuggling her when she's really clean with her long fur.  She is such a teddy bear when she wants to snuggle.  Anyway, Jordan caught some funny moments on camera.
Top Left: Me and Abby.  I'm still fairly dry in this picture but you'll have to excuse the lake hair.
Top Right: Abby had some funny faces during bath time, but this one is so pathetic.  She just looks defeated.
Bottom Left: I have NO idea what is going on in this picture.  Abby has a look of dread or surprise in her eyes.  She was really unhappy about being in the water.  Abby is 4 years old now, and in all her pictures, she looks like a white dog (dry).  However, Abby is actually a pardi; it's quite cute to see her spots when she gets wet.
Bottom Right: I'm attempting to rinse her off and she can't bare to look.  She "hides" in the corner of the bath tub. Silly doggie.

Lhasa Apso pups (terriers) have a different kind of hair than some dogs so I blow her hair dry.  We could let her air dry, but it takes her hair forever to fully dry that way.  We have a "system" when I dry her hair.  Basically, she avoids the blow dryer and I chase her squirming body with it.  She can't stand the wind her her face, so she hides it in a towel or under my leg.

Squirmy blow drying process.
Bottom Right: All done!  She still looks annoyed, but she got a "good girl" treat afterwards.  She's a pretty good pup during bath time (minus the scratches on my legs).

Lastly, I wanted to share a few pictures of our "baby" birds.  I introduced these little birdies as eggs in a July posting.  Then, I promptly forgot about them.  It feels like just a week, maayyybe two weeks have past since we saw these eggs, but apparently I missed their "childhood".  In the pictures below, they are teenagers at least.

They wouldn't let me get too close but it was a nice opportunity to use my zoom lens.

Hope you all enjoy the week!
