Pickles, Pumpkins, and "Pleasant" Harmony

Image
It has been a while in between posts but I have a doozy to share today.  After reviewing some pictures, I think this post will be a little long so I will try to keep the commentary to a minimum. We began our weekend going bowling with Jordan's RVP in Primerica, Dalton and Olga. Jordan won a contest and so they treated us to pizza and bowling and we had a blast!  This is us just before the cosmic bowling began! This is one of the better shots I got of Jordan.  He moved very fast so half my pictures are blurry.   We both did pretty badly the first game.  I was having trouble finding the right weight ball that also had large or extra large finger holes (slight phobia from getting my finger stuck as a child).  Not sure what Jordan's excuse was.  "The lanes weren't waxed properly" - excuses, excuses.   Jordan is "HEA" for "Heat" and I'm "ROM" for "Romey".  We tied at 76 points.  Ouch. Jordan and I had a fantastic weekend!  It was the right amount of relaxation and productivity.  I got off work early on Friday and got some good words from my boss on my way out the door.  That's always a great way to start off the weekend!  Friday afternoon another fantastic thing happened; it RAINED!!!  For those of you who don't live in Texas, you may not realize how much we need the rain, but it was glorious and beautiful!  I love the smell of rain especially on top of freshly mowed grass. Abby and I got started picking up the house and doing some laundry and light cleaning.     Here is Abby nesting in the pile of bedsheets.  She loves that.   Saturday morning Jordan and I joined a few friends for breakfast at a nearby old town cafe.  Jordan and I have rarely go out for breakfast during the actual breakfast hour so that was a nice change.  It was also a first for us to meet friends for breakfast.  I have to say, I'm a big fan.  Having some good laughs and

Project Crochet

Today I want to share a little craft with you guys!  I first learned to crochet when I was around 10 years old.  My mom likes to crochet in the winter months and has made some amazing things.  She once made me some purple and white slippers with big pompoms on the top.  I wore those things for a long time and loved those pompoms! Anyway, Mom patiently taught me how to make my own things and in years following as the weather would cool down we would drag out all our crocheting tools and yarn.  Since it's officially almost Fall, I thought this would be an excellent topic to share! Last week, I met my BGF (best granny friend), Wendy, at a local coffee shop for a "granny date".  We like to periodically meet to catch up and gossip while working on little crochet or knitting projects.  Wendy taught me how to make fleece blankets last spring and I've enjoyed making them ever since!  There are some great fleece designs out there so hit up your local craft store!  (always

A Little Dirt Wont Kill You

Jordan and I just got back from a lovely weekend at the lake!  We really don't go every weekend, we just happen to be there a lot recently. This weekend was special because we brought our friends, Mallory and Nathan! We met Mallory and Nathan in October of 2010 (I think).  I'm doubting myself on that date because it doesn't seem possible that 3 years have already flown by.  Our neighborhood has a lot of kids/tweens and one day our doorbell randomly rang.  It was one of those ring and run pranks from some kids in the area.  No big deal, but when we opened the door we found this huge stone on our front porch.  Jordan has a knack for remembering totally random details and he remembered this decorative stone belonged to some house down the street.  It turns out that Mallory and Nathan were the owners of this pretty stone so Nathan and Jordan carried it back to their house.  (I still don't know how kids could have carried the heavy stone to our house.  Co

Keep Calm and Go to the Lake

Friday I could barely contain my excitement! We've been planning a fun weekend at the lake for a while (I know, we go to the lake so often, wouldn't the excitement fade? Apparently not.) Friday was the day we would pack up with our friends, Mallory and Nathan, and hit the road. I even managed to get off work early which was a fantastic treat! As I was getting ready for work Friday morning, my excitement got the best of me. I got carried away and ended up with some pretty big hair. Hey, we live in Texas so that's acceptable. Anyway, I snapped a quick pic for ya'll. Jack it to Jesus ladies! I packed my "surprised eyebrows" that morning apparently.  At lunch I made a quick errand to Target and found this towel wrap on clearance. Hardly exciting news to report, but I've been looking for one alllll Summer. Great colors, good length, and on sale! Jordan had an eventful lunch too. He very sweetly took my car to get an oil change at F
