Rain is a Good Thing...Right?

Image
If you've been following the news lately, you'll know that Texas has had a huge influx of rain lately.  And by "influx," I mean, massive amounts of rain all at one time !  In the Dallas area, we've had weeks of consecutive days with rain/storms/tornadoes.  It's become a normal thing to hear my phone blaring flood warnings at all hours.  All vegetation is green and lush , but it's also squishy and saturated . Occasionally, we will have a day when the sun comes up, but it feels almost abnormal now; like I'm a vampire who has become unaccustomed to the sunlight. All this rain is a mixed blessing. Texas is not built for so much moisture.  We just aren't used to it ya'll!  There are so many Texas cities experiencing flooding and homes have had so much damage in the last few weeks.  I have several coworkers that have missed work just so that they can fight water from pouring into their homes (ripping up carpet and tearing up wood floors - not co...

Everybody Dance Now

Image
Jordan and I had such a great break last weekend with Mom, Dad, Scott, and Elizabeth.  We'd been talking about going dancing for a few weeks (or maybe months?) and finally scheduled it for Mother's Day weekend!  We all live in different areas of the Metroplex so it takes lots of effort and time to plan these things!  The 6 of us hit up downtown Fort Worth and had a blast! I peer pressured everyone into taking some group pictures and couple pictures.  The top photo is one of my favorites but we probably should have rearranged ourselves.  You can barely see Mom back there and this was the best shot of several. All our guys look handsome and it was a total coincidence that Jordan and Scott wore such similar shirts. Downtown Fort Worth has some really cool sites.  You can ride a mechanical bull, buy a cowboy hat from small vendors or eat awesome Tex-Mex at the local restaurants.  We all had a yummy dinner at a place called Habanero's! China Chip

Hi everyone!  I don't have much time this morning, but I want to share a few pictures from last weekend.  The weather was gorgeous in the Dallas area, unlike today.  We've had several threatening storms that past few weekends.  It's pretty scary sometimes, but hopefully the lakes start to fill up. We started our weekend off by doing a little garage sale hopping in the area.  My favorite kind of sales are community wide.  Usually there are lots of good finds and it's like hitting 10 garage sales at once.  We did find a community sale, but unfortunately we didn't get any loot at that particular sale.  Maybe I'm too much of a diva but I just didn't feel like digging through the stuff at this sale.  Last weekend, our luck came instead, from the smaller household garage sales. Top : Community wide garage sale at a nearby school.  Music and carnival food included! Bottom Left and Middle : We spent basically the whole day driving do...

Martin House Rainbow

Jordan and I have been busy beboppin' from one thing to the next so I've realized that it's been a couple of weeks since I last wrote a post!  I have some pictures to share as I recap our recent activities! Let's see, two weekends ago we made a last minute decision to head to the lake.  If you know me at all, you know that I don't "wing it" very well.  I'm a planner and proud of it.  BUT, when it comes to the lake, even the most ardent planner has to yield to the draw of the lake.   Dallas has been getting a lot of rain lately (which I love).  While we were at the lake we got hit with a few storms and I got lucky with some pictures.  The above are just random pictures from the "beach" and sunset at the lake.  Despite all the rain, the lake level has not come up.  It's going to take years to bounce back or some kind of crazy inland hurricane to get the levels back to normal. This is another shot of the lake while the storm ...

Bluebonnets and Birthday Bowl

Image
Texas Bluebonnets are all over the place!  It's the season for wildflowers and that means there are fields and fields of bluebonnets everywhere you look!  Last weekend, we made time to take a few pictures in a nearby bluebonnet field, thanks to our photographer, Jenn, we captured some beautiful pictures!  Thanks Jenn for helping us out!  Here are a few photos from that day: It is tricky to get both Jordan and I with our eyes open, but Abby added a level of difficulty because she was very excited about other people and kids (tiny humans) in the vicinity!  These are some of my favorites with all three of us cooperating. We pulled Jenn into our pictures too (using a tripod).  Jenn and I must have been on the same wavelength, because we both wore mint!  We couldn't have planned that if we tried !   If you've never seen a field of bluebonnets, it is a breathtaking experience.  As you can see, they go on and on in the background...

Thirty Birdie!

Image
I have SO much to share with y'all today!  I have oodles of pictures from my thirtieth birthday bash last weekend!  Jordan did an amazing job organizing everything and recruited family and friends to help.  Everything turned out perfect and every moment of the weekend was great!  I'm one lucky gal. Friday night, my cousin Mandy and her BF, Brandon, arrived.  I was glad they came a little early because it was nice to have their help to do some last minute prep before everyone else arrived.  We had fun doing some light shopping Saturday morning, and then Mandy very graciously helped me prepare some snack foods for the evening. Saturday afternoon, the corral arrived and we all headed to TopGolf.  I've talked about TopGolf before (in detail) so I'll spare you the how-to-history and get right into pictures.  When we arrived at TopGolf, several folks were already there so it was a great time for hellos and hugs! Top Left: Mandy and I in f...
