Santa Smells Funny
Merry Christmas!! I hope this post reaches you warm and happy with family and friends! I'm going to keep this short but I've got some pictures to share with you (Abby themed).
A few weeks ago we popped into Petsmart to buy some more dog food for Abigail and ran into Santa Claus! Apparently, Petsmart annually provides FREE visits and pictures with Santa for any pet! I thought it was a hilarious concept but Abby seemed uneasy (not unlike the screaming children in the mall).
Santa must have smelled funny because it took a long while to get Abby to look in the direction of my camera.
HA! She just looks so awkward in this picture!
Later we did some light house chores and changed the bedsheets. I'm biased but the Gails always seems super cute nesting in the sheets.
Look at the little mug!
In other news, 2017 will continue a few house projects for us. We've been shopping for new tile the last several months to replace the tile in our kitchen. About a year ago we had some weird "tee-peeing" of the tile in our kitchen. We've had a few foundation companies come check on the floor and everyone keeps telling us that our foundation is just fine. The best guess anyone can come up with is that the foundation shifted within the allowable shift range (quarter of an inch) and that could have caused the tile to pop. We also feel strongly that the tile issue is a symptom of a poor installation job. Clearly the tile was installed by the previous homeowner.
So... after all that research and discovery process, we are finally ready to bite the bullet. The process is so expensive! The demolition, installation, and actual tile really adds up fast!
I think we'll end up going with a 12 inch by 24 inch tile. I think that's really attractive and will compliment the existing tile that we are NOT replacing. Of course, if you stray outside of the standard 12x12 tile size, the installation charges grow. Apparently, the larger the tile, the more likely that the installer will have to cut pieces to fit around corners. Also, if the tile is long and narrow, it's more difficult to keep the grout lines straight (especially if the tile isn't perfectly plumb). If the tiles are on the small side, it's just more labor to measure and lay each little tile. It's enough to make your head spin!!
Here are a few pictures from our shopping trips.
Don't even get me started on the difference between ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, etc.
We found a nice tile from Daltile so right now that's the front runner.
That's about it for today! I leave you with a few pictures from our Christmas card and sincerely wish everyone a joyful holiday!
