Fantastic Beast and How He's Sleeping

With the end of the year approaching, it feels like there are so many projects that remain unfinished.  Is that just us?  This last month we've been trying to finish random thoughts, projects, and plans.  It's impossible to finish everything but it's nice to get a few things checked off.

One of those things was getting to the root cause of Jordan's sleep habits.  The last several months, Jordan and I have been talking about our quality of sleep.  I've already told you about our new bed (you can find that post HERE).  We both love our new bed, but I'm surprised that Jordan has still not been getting a quality night's rest.  Personally, I take a while to fall asleep but once I do, I'm like a rock.  Jordan on the other hand tosses and turns all night long.  His FitBit readout of the night is always terrible!  SO, in November we finally decided to get him into a sleep study.  The title of this post became our little inside joke because he did the sleep study the same week the movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them came out in theaters! Jordan was kind enough to let me share these pictures so no poking fun:

They hooked all kinds of contraptions to Jordan to measure various things.  It's amazing anyone can sleep with all that on your face!
The results of the sleep study surprised me.  Fortunately, Jordan does not have sleep apnea.  He doesn't have restless leg syndrome or anything unusual.  He just has "unexplained restlessness".  Helpful diagnosis, huh?   Basically, he's a flopper.  He just moves a lot when he's sleeping and his REM cycle is really short.  There isn't much he can do about it, but it's nice to have ruled out anything serious.  I guess he needs more sleepy time tea!

After his sleep study we had a few random projects to work on.  We'd purchased a new rug in October and wanted to put extra padding under it.  Nebraska Furniture Mart will up-sell rug pads at crazy costs so we decided to buy one off Amazon ($40).  The only catch is that the rug pad was just a little too large for the 8x11 rug so we needed to trim it down.  I decided to use some of my quilting tools which worked perfectly for the project!  This is a "self healing cutting mat" that I bought ages ago for other activities.  It has been very helpful for all kinds of projects and protects surfaces very well.  If you're in the market for a cutting mat, you can buy them at Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or Amazon.  I suggest the largest size you can find because it's been a great tool.
With Jordan's help, the rug was perfectly cut to size in less than 20 minutes!  I was so glad to put the living room back together and the rug feels so nice now!

Lastly, we decided to install under the cabinet lighting in the kitchen.  We found a pretty good set at Frys and it didn't take long to install.

Middle: White lighting
Right: Royal blue lighting

I've come to prefer a soft white or warm yellow light in the evening, but we both were impressed with the color options available!  This set of lights came with a remote that can adjust the brightness and even has multi-color and fade settings!  I thought it was cool to have it fade from red, white, to blue!

Right: This remote is intense but Jordan loves all the options!

That's it for now!  I hope you're all enjoying this last week before Christmas!
