Saab Story

Image
We've really enjoyed our Saab SUV since we purchased it in April of 2014 (you can find that post HERE ).  The experience of buying a new/pre-owned vehicle was stressful, but I'm so glad it all worked out for the best (so far).   Having said that, used cars need a little extra TLC (and money)... Jordan takes excellent care of our vehicles and always makes sure we are up to date on oil, tires, inspections, fluids, blah, blah.  This guy even gets gas for me all.the.time ! Despite his best efforts, my Saab had a little hiccup last week.  On Thursday it started up a little funny but I dismissed it as my imagination (lesson learned).  Friday after work I bounced out to the car ready to head home for an enjoyable weekend only to discover that the Saab wouldn't start!  (Turn key--click click, turn key--click, click, nothing)   It was a hot day to have a bum vehicle, but fortunately for me, Jordan was in the area and was able to come rescue me!  Yes, I know how to us

Lake-tivities

Jordan and I had such a fun weekend at the lake!  It was great to visit with my parents for Father's Day weekend and see my brother and his fiance!  We had a blast just hanging out in the water visiting  and floating.  Unfortunately, I didn't take as many pictures as I'd hoped but I have a handful to share. Friday night Mom and Dad made amazing Reuben sandwiches!  I mean, come on, just look at that melty cheese! I hadn't had a Reuben sandwich in years so I forgot how good they are!  If you've never had one of these yummy delights, HERE's the recipe. We had such a blast in the water and had an excellent set up for ourselves.  We lounged in the water with a floating, waterproof speaker which we blue-toothed to Scott's phone for music.  We even had a floating cooler!  Jordan and I were very excited to give Mom and Dad these presents for various occasions! Of all the times to be on the lake, sunset is my favorite.  The summers are sweltering i

Packing Master

Image
I just love stores like Sams and Costco.  Well, I suppose it's a love/hate thing.  We always find so many things that we "need" and it really adds up fast!  I seriously catch myself thinking irrational thoughts like "gosh, 6 pounds of pasta is a lot but it's a good deal!" Between the two stores, I suppose we prefer Sams but we honestly don't hit up the store very often.  It's just the two of us so it doesn't make sense to buy our groceries there (at all).  Even so, I love to browse.  Anyhoo, I had to take this picture of Jordan on our last trip to Sams to show off his expert architecture skillz.  Jordan is an excellent packer and always finds a way to maximize our space whether it's the shopping cart, car, luggage, or even the occasional debate over the "right" way to load the dishwasher (no complaints from me on that one!). Check out this cart...  Somehow he worked it out so that there was a whole extra space in the

Can't Buy Me Love - Arboretum Concert

Image
I just love long Summer days!  It's strange to wear sunglasses outside as late as 8PM!  I'm bracing myself for the Texas heat sizzle. Jordan and I have had an enjoyable couple of weeks.  We both have had our heads under water with work so we treated ourselves to an outdoor live concert at the Dallas Arboretum.  The Arboretum has a Summer Concert series and they host concerts every Thursday right into the Fall.  We decided to go on McCartney night and I loved all the Beatles songs!  The band stayed in character which made it that much more fun! Here are some pictures from our Summer concert! Top Left: Jordan and I after set up our little picnic area. Top Right: It's hard to see in this picture, but this is the McCartney Project Band. Bottom: The crowd, coolers, blankets, etc. etc. Top Left: Food trucks!  For folks that don't live right next to the Arboretum, it's tough to get into downtown and still have time to eat.  Fortunately, th

Crosswalk Painting Ragtime

This last weekend we were pretty busy!  We didn't seem to be too productive,  but we definitely had fun! We kicked off our weekend Friday night by stopping by Angela's at the Crosswalk in downtown Plano.  I have a work friend who plays in a band and they were performing at Angela's!  The band, Iron Fist of Duncan , is a cover band that performs everything from Ed Sheeran to Foo Fighters to Bob Dylan.  I wasn't sure what to expect, but the music was fantastic and the atmosphere was very welcoming and lively! Top Left : This is the vibe inside the restaurant.  This place was packed but we managed to get a decent table! Right : Jordan and I in front of Angela's!  It was a beautiful day considering it's been raining for-ev-er in Texas. The downtown Plano streets remind me a bit of downtown Fort Worth (only a much smaller scale).  Everyone is friendly and each pub or restaurant you pass is really interesting. Saturday morning/afternoon we w

Memorial Day Fun

Image
We had such a great weekend at the lake over the Memorial holiday!  To be honest, I didn't take many pictures.  Not on my phone or camera!  From the few pictures I did take, these are some of my favorites. The last few years our family has used the Memorial holiday as an opportunity for a mini reunion of sorts.  Each year the number of people grows larger and larger and hovers around 30 people.  You can see some pictures from last year HERE .   Since there are so many people going in different directions, we always have a schedule and a menu.  Albeit, a loose schedule, but it helps to keep everyone rounded up.  This year Dad and Mom used a fancy whiteboard to post the days activities and it seemed to work great!   If you can't tell, Dad added extra flavor by adding doodles of artwork!  Top: Mom, Aunt Barb (Mom's Aunt), and Grandma all visiting at the community shrimp boil! Bottom Left: My sweet cousin, Rachel, and Uncle Ray driving the golf cart!
