Fat Tuesday. Really Fat.

This has been quite a filling week so far.  As you might have read in my previous posts, my department at work is pretty enthusiastic when it comes to events and FOOD.  We have food around us allllll the time.  Fat Tuesday is the perfect excuse to round up our friends, make some delicious food and raise money for the Seven Loaves Food Bank, a charity that we like to regularly donate to.

For those of you who don't know, Fat Tuesday actually has religious roots.  Fat Tuesday is actually the day of celebration prior to the fasting season of Lent which begins on Ash Wednesday.  You mean it's not all about the "king cake you ask?"  Yup, there's more to it.

Fat Tuesday also just happens to be our National Pancake Day!  This is a good thing because every year my department and I stuff ourselves.  Our department organizes everything and we all pitch in for the supplies.  We get a couple of chefs and do it right folks.  We don't just make plain old pancakes.  The selections include: strawberry, blueberry, banana, banana nut, wheat, and regular pancakes.  Oh, and we had waffles too this year!

We make fancy pancakes, but we also have all kinds of stuff to put on top of the pancakes!  You will see pictured, syrup, butter, peanut butter, whip cream, and of course the fresh fruit makes an excellent garnish!

Here are some of the pictures from our pancake factory.  It smelled delicious in our area so we attracted lots of people to donate and eat with us!

All the proceeds (money or dry goods) benefit the Seven Loaves Food Bank in our area.  This year, we raised more than $230 and 3 full shipping boxes of food!  It was our most successful year yet!

The eating didn't stop there folks.  Let's just say that Tuesday was a very busy day for me.  Following the morning pancake breakfast, I headed to a lunch Toastmasters meeting (don't worry, i got some work done in between there)!  In my Toastmaster's club, we were hosting a contest with an Olympic theme so, of course, we had all yummy Greek foods!  I did my best to control myself, but it was just a delicious day ya'll!

Here are a few pictures from our Toastmaster Greek spread.  We had olives, grapes, feta cheese, hummas, and of course some pita bread!  Hope you all enjoyed watching the Olympics!

Does anyone else work at a place as cool as I do?
