Tables and Boots

Image
I just realized that I never shared pictures of our new coffee table!  It was not a significant purchase, but I feel like it made a significant difference in the look of our living room! This is the " before " picture of our living room: On a whim, I decided to search for coffee tables online in Facebook market place.  I just love those kinds of websites (FB market, Craigslist, Offer up, etc)...  I get it from my momma who's addicted to a good garage sale and Craigslist deal!   I came across this beautiful table and started negotiating with the seller.  Depending on the seller's situation and how long the item has been online, you can sometimes get a great deal! This table is larger than our old table and it has more of a walnut color than a cherry color.  I like to fold laundry on the couch so it's more space to stack clean clothes! This is the " after " picture: Our old table served me for 3 years living on my own afte

Welcome to the (Wizard) World

Image
Last weekend I had such a fun time at a baby shower for my dear friend, Mallory!  And the theme was perfect!  I couldn't help but take a zillion pictures of the Harry Potter themed decorations and food!  If you're a fan of the HP books, these are all adorable!  If you're not familiar with the HP series, I highly recommend the books!  It's amazing how detailed and interesting JK Rowling made the wizarding world! Top Left: Mystical flying keys! Top Right: Nothing Bundt cakes with lightning boldts and the hallow symbols! Bottom Left: The favors were wrapped in tiny paper traveling trunks with pictures of Hedwig the owl!  Of course the color scheme was maroon and gold for the Gryffindor house! Bottom Right: "Snitches" made from Ferrero Rocher chocolates! Top Left: The hostess just happened to have a collection of antique plates throughout her house so they cut out little pictures of adorable kitties and put them on each plate!  It was very

Garden Glow Lights

Image
For years now I've wanted some soft glowing lights in our backyard.  We have 4 really cool teakie torches but they are a lot of effort to set up and light.  A few weeks ago we found and purchased a string lights at Sams that were an excellent quality (strong plastic, LED bulb) but they just didn't seem right.  Maybe I'm too picky, but I wanted specific features: soft white color, remote control, LED, durable, at least 36 feet long, etc.  After some shopping around, we returned the lights to Sams and bought a different set from Costco.  The new set had ALL the features we were looking for!  The fact that this set has a remote makes it SO easy to turn the lights on and off!  I love them! Top Left: Jordan was exuding happiness as he used his new ladder for the task!  I have to admit, the new ladder is MUCH safer than our last one and is very versatile!  Bottom Left: Ya'll know how I don't like to mark up our new fence!  But even I had to acquiesce to a few

Kathy Squared - GWB Museum

Last weekend we got to visit with Jordan's mom, Kathy!  We hosted her for a few days while she was in the Dallas area and had a great visit! That's TWO Kathy's under one roof!  But don't worry, Jordan is used to the chatty Kathy's in his life. We kicked off the weekend with dinner on Friday night followed by a mini birthday celebration!  Kathy's birthday is later this month so we wanted to make her feel special and celebrate!  I made a birthday cake and we bought some beautiful flowers for us ladies to enjoy over the weekend! These are various cake pictures.  I made a yellow cake with vanilla butter cream frosting.  The cake tasted great and I was happy with how my minimal design turned out!  It is very tricky to get the frosting smooth and level across the top but I wanted to avoid using fondant if at all possible.  This cake was easily 5+ inches tall! Saturday we hit the city to explore!  We decided to go to the George W. Bush Museum and L

Memorial Editorial

I finally had a chance to sit down and go through all our pictures from the Memorial holiday a few weekends ago!  This year we had our 4th annual Memorial day family reunion at the lake and just like years before, it was a blast!  You can read about past years here: the dry ice of 2016 , the guacamole of 2015 , and  the Sophie 4-wheeler rides of 2014 ...  Who knows what adventures lay ahead! The water at the lake is full and water life is flourishing!  Pictured above is Tyler, Sophie (pup),  Ryan, Sam, Dad, and Dylan.  They went out tubing and bouncing over the waves!  I think there is a certain age when a kid decides that tubing actually hurts .  Tyler and Dylan are quite possibly approaching that age.  They are at a point where they must weigh the cost/benefit of tubing (cost of hurt/benefit of fun). After tubing, everyone opted for some less painful fun, swimming.  I had a blast taking pictures of the various style jumps. Top Left: Dylan entertaining us with a flip

Fredericksburg

Image
A few weeks ago we took a little trip to Fredericksburg, TX with Scott and Elizabeth!  We'd been talking about taking a trip together for over a year now and we finally got around to it!  There is so much to do in Fredericksburg!  We ate delicious food, tasted amazing wine, shopped the local stores, stopped by Luckenbach , and even made time to go to the Fredericksburg Trade Days ! I took my nice camera with me with grandiose plans to take beautiful photos but ended up using my cell phone more than anything.  Photo credit goes to all 4 of us since we all took various pics! Top Left: Departure time!  Elizabeth made all 4 of us AWESOME shirts so we snapped a picture before we hit the road!  The quotes on the shirts were hilarious!  "Wine Not?" "Winosaur" and "Screw it" - Thank you Elizabeth for the fun gifts! Top Right: When we arrived, we popped into a German brewery for lunch and a little beer tasting.  Jordan and I shared a flight of be
