Chicken Scratch
Good day! This is the first time for me (Jordan) to chime in on this blog in the forefront. I wanted to talk about a great time Kathy and I recently had with a good friend. A few weeks ago, we received a call from a friend we haven't seen in years. Our college buddy, David, was in town and wanted to meet up for dinner if we were available. We checked our calendar and as luck would have it, we had an opening for the following evening. The next conundrum was to decide where to eat. Uncharacteristically, Kathy left the restaurant decision up to me (I know, I was surprised too). David, was staying in downtown Dallas and we thought it'd be a great idea to try a new venue outside our suburban bubble. I immediately made a few Yelp inquiries, but then asked a co-worker for some suggestions. In the end, the three of us decided to go to a place called, Chicken Scratch! It was in a remote part of the western side of downtown Dallas. At first, we thought we might have typed in the wrong address, since the building doesn't look like a restaurant at all, and there are very few other buildings near.
After the initial "are you sure this is the right place" comments, we finally found the front door and saw our friend, David, sitting at an outdoor table.
There were two different businesses at this location: one that's for ordering food and the other for ordering drinks. Kathy took some great pictures below!
We had an amazing time catching up with David and learning about all the new things going on in his family's life!!! Such amazing people! Spending the evening relaxing with an old friend really had Kathy and I missing our college years.
These are just some general pictures of the scene. Yes, that is a stage made entirely of wooden pallets. This is definitely an outdoor vibe because the indoor seating is limited. You might want to keep this in mind if you decide to eat here.

Middle Left: A light fixture made of plastic crates!
Middle Right: Another shot of the pallet stage.
Bottom Left: A light fixture made out of wind turbines.
Bottom Right: A 70's piece of furniture with a low wooden table. The style is very eclectic for sure.
Top Left: This is my coconut chicken and waffle. It was amazing.
Top Right: Kathy's chicken sandwich, "the Foundry". Hers was good too, but mine was better.
Bottom Left: Like I said, the style at Chicken Scratch is interesting. They used old shredded tires as decor nailed to the wall.
Bottom Right: More 70's furniture. I'm pretty sure I've seen this exact furniture in the house of some of my relatives...
