Gruesome

This last week has been an interesting and painful week.  It's so easy to take for granted the freedom and mobility that comes with a healthy body.  When a part of that biological machine is broken, well, things start to get a little disorderly. Jordan has been an amazing husband and such a strong person for me to lean on (literally in some cases).  He's cooked dinners, done dishes, laundry, and all kinds of things.  He even has been a cheerful gopher when I need something that happens to be out of reach.  I've always felt very blessed to have Jordan by my side but that is even more abundantly clear to me now.  I hope I can show him the same love and acts of kindness in return someday (not that I would ever wish for him to sprain his ankle). Monday and Tuesday were my first days working with my sprained ankle.  I quickly learned some valuable things: Crutches take practice.  It's no wonder that Abby would run for her life when she saw me use the crutches.  T

For months and months a friend of ours has invited us to see him perform at a small winery in Rockwall.  Our friend, Sandy, is a singer in the area who's passion is music with soul!  He has a band called the Sandy Bates The Soulful Experience  and he also happens to a lot like Jeff Goldblum .  We almost always have plans, but this time we decided it would be a great spur of the moment date and a chance to try something new! I was a little skeptical because I really can't stand to be in a smokey, packed bar listening to annoying music but KE Cellars turned out to be a really awesome find (and smoke-free)!  This little place is in an old house so you can choose to sit near the band, or in another room, where the music is still enjoyable but not quite so loud so you can visit with friends.  The service was great, wine was delicious and Sandy's band really was fantastic!  They played a lot of Elvis , George Jones , Ray Charles and songs from The Temptations . Jordan ordered

Is anyone out there an "I Love Lucy" fan?  Well, I'm a huge Lucy fan and have been ever since I was a kid.  Every time I think of the month of February, I think of how Ricky Ricardo would pronounce it.  "Feb-ri-airy!" In the season 1 episode, "Men are Messy," Ricky and Lucy share the phone receiver since they've divided the apartment in 2 (Lucy's clean side and Ricky's messy side), but the phone is "on the line" in the middle so they agree to share the phone.  As Ricky listens to his manager on his piece of the receiver, Lucy translates into the other end.  "Last Febriary" and "Take a t-easy" comes from this episode.  You can watch the full episode  HERE .  If this makes me a nerd, then I own up to that! The month of Febriary has brought a lot of fun so far!  Jordan and I had a lot of fun watching the Superbowl with our friends, Nathan and Mallory!  I really wasn't into the game.  I was mostly there to

Too Square for Squares

Hi Friends!  This is the first blog I've ever written in the morning.  Let's just say I am not a morning person on a typical day, but for whatever reason, I woke up bright and early this morning.  I thought I would use the opportunity to tell ya'll about our week! The real action of the week started on Wednesday at a work happy hour.  One of my co-workers has decided to leave the company and move to California!  It will be such an adventure for her, but we will certainly miss her!  To give her a proper send off, we decided to host a HH at Love and War in Plano, TX.  I sent the invitation to about 40 people and easily 30 people showed up!  We had current co-workers, friends from other departments, and friends who drove all the way from Fort Worth just to hang out with us!  It was great to see everyone and catch up on our lives outside of work.  For those of you who are new to the "real world" or work in a "corporate" job, don't underestimate the
