Christmas 2014 - Part 2

Image
Hi everyone!  This is part 2 of our little Christmas holiday!  You can read part 1 here , where we spent time with our family on Jordan's side in San Antonio.  I have LOTS more pictures to share with you though! This year, we were expecting kind of a quiet Christmas on my side of the family.  We'd even debated whether or not to go to the lake for Christmas this year.  As it turned out, my brother, Andy, had a break from work (in the Gulf of Mexico).  After speaking with his company, it worked out such that he could spend a week in Texas with family!  The timing could not have been more perfect!  After that, one thing lead to another.  Andy's girlfriend, Christina, flew down from Virginia and we now had our whole family together!  I can't remember the last time my immediate family was together for Christmas.  With work schedules and living in different areas, it has become more and more difficult to arrange.  This Christmas we had 8 of us!  Mom and Dad, Jordan and I,

Christmas 2014 - Part 1

Merry Christmas and Happy (almost) New Year to everyone!  I'm excited to share some pictures with you from our Christmas break this year.  There are so many pictures that I'm going to have to make this part 1 of 2 posts!  In general, I have to say this has been one of the best Christmas breaks ever.  I certainly have a lot to learn in my new job, but one of the perks of the new role is that I get two whole weeks off during the holiday.  I don't know of any other company that does that anymore these days.  Because of that, I've totally relaxed into a do-what-we-want-when-we-want kind of routine.  It's awesome! We started our break in San Antonio to see Jordan's family.  On his side, we have 6 nieces and 1 nephew.  Whew!  Those kids have energy. Our first night in San Antonio, we went out to dinner with Jordan's mom, Kathy, Kevan, and kiddos. Top Left: Kathy, Brooklan, and me.  This was the first time I've met Brooklan and she is such an eas

I love the Christmas season and the holiday break from everything.  It's a season for family, Christmas lights, rest, presents, fun, and the list goes on! I've been on a bit of a hiatus from blogging lately because I've been getting ready for Christmas, oh, and learning how to do my new job (still trying to figure that out).  Despite my tardiness in posting, I wanted to share some pictures from our annual Christmas parade at the lake! Every year, my family along with neighbors and friends participate in a little lakeside parade of lights.  Each year the parade gets bigger and bigger with more participants and increasingly more elaborate decorations.  If you have any combination of wheels with a motor, you're eligible to be in the parade! Hi Everyone!  I have a belated turkey post to share with ya'll today! I know, I'm more than a week late, but we've had some life curve-balls come up, and I'm just now getting around to it.  Oh well. This Thanksgiving was a little different than usual.  We often see one or both sets of our parents during the holiday break but this year, my parents decided to take a trip to see my grandfather, out of state.  We unfortunately did not get to see either of our parents on the Thanksgiving break, but in their absence, Jordan and I decided to host our own (small) dinner and invited my brother, Scott, and cousin, Mandy.  You could say it was the under 30 crowd (or barely over 30). Mandy and I spent probably 30 minutes or so talking about our little dinner at the lake several weekends ago (not fully comprehending all that is involved).  Between the two of us, we managed to pull off a really great dinner for the 4 of us and had LOTs of leftovers!  Thank you Mandy for all you

Hi Ya'll!  It's the NIGHT before Thanksgiving!  YAY!  I hope you all are in route or already arrived to visit family and enjoy delicious food!  Jordan and I have so many blessings to be thankful for.  I'm so grateful to have such a loving family, our health, a happy home, little miss Abigail, and the numerous other blessings in our lives! I'm going to try to make this one a quick post because I've got cooking to do folks!  Lots to do before tomorrow (at least I remembered to defrost our turkey - thanks Mom!). I have a quick recap from this past weekend.  It's been a short week but it feels like these pictures are from a while ago! At the lake we finally got so much needed rain.  It wont make a dent in the lake level but it was beautiful to watch and hear.  I didn't even mind having super frizzy hair! LOL! You'll remember a recent post were we chopped down a tree at the lake (there are multiple tree chopping posts, it's not really relevant).

Hi everyone!  It's been pretty busy in our household lately so I'm behind on a couple of posts that I'd planned to write for ya'll.  One of the main reasons that I'm so behind is because I've been spending my time going through the job interview process for the first time in 8 years.  Yup, that means a revised resume, interview prep, interviews with several people, and finally the salary negotiation process!  It has been stressful to go through this experience, partly because I'm a "worrier" and partly because there are so many opportunities at my company right now that Jordan and I had to weigh several pros and cons of different positions before making a move. It was great to be recruited into other areas of the company, but there was much to consider: level of stress, autonomy in each position, potential boss, team environment, etc., etc. Even though I don't know what I don't know, I can officially announce that I will be switching job

WHi Everyone!  Hope you are all staying warm!  It's 44 degrees in the Dallas area at this moment so I had to break down and turn on our heater!  Thank goodness for seat warmers in cars! Jordan and I had a great weekend!  Saturday we got to meet up with our friends, Wendy and Nathan, for some delightful Mexican food from Chuy's.  Wendy and I try to meet up as regularly as we can to visit and work on various crafts.  She's very talented and a fantastic friend!  You can check out her beautiful projects at her online store HERE ! This is a quick pic of us at the restaurant! One of the projects Wendy has graciously been helping me with is our t-shirt quilt!  You've seen our progress one bit at a time and we are so close to finishing!  I've learned so much from Wendy about the process and I love the results! This is a picture of the finished top layer of the quilt!  I need to get this layer "quilted" together with the batting and a back lay
