Nice Knobs

I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures of the project Jordan and I have been working on for several weeks!  This last Winter we acquired an old dresser from some friends, and this Spring we finally finished working on it! Jordan got an awesome Skil saw for Christmas and this thing has been very handy to have for this project (and many future projects, I'm sure)! This is the "before" picture of the dresser.  I'm sorry I don't have a better shot but it was a little cramped in our garage. The first task was to attach legs to the dresser.  I think the raised height looks very elegant and legs add so much character! The bottom of the dresser had existing holes to attach legs.  I thought this was a stroke of luck but unfortunately they were very rusted and didn't seem to fit the screw size of the new legs. In the above pictures, Jordan is removing some of the old hardware underneath the dresser. To attach the legs, Jo

This week has been interesting...  On Monday, 4/11 our area got hit pretty hard with hail (again).  Yup, we had hail on 3/23, got hit this week, and I think there is more in the forecast.  Sometimes the hail storm is short (maybe 5 minutes) but on Monday the storm seemed to last 15 minutes.  The noise was scary! Our house was damaged but since we were on the edge of the storm, we actually were very lucky compared to neighbors and friends just a few miles away.  Jordan and I were also fortunate to be home when it hit (about 6:15pm) and not driving on the road.  His truck took a beating, but our Saab was safely parked in the garage, thank goodness! Left Top and Bottom: This is a sample of the hail from our front yard.  The size varied from ping pong to golf ball sized hail stones.  Most of the damage came from the north, northwest so our windows took a direct hit.   Right : Unfortunately, one of our windows buckled under the pressure and broke.  It was a 2 pane window and

Under Lock and Key

Last weekend we had such a blast with our friends, Amanda and Tim!  These two love birds just got back from their honeymoon and we wanted to do something to celebrate Amanda's birthday!  We decided to meet half way between Fort Worth and Dallas to do something but we weren't quite sure what kind of activity to do. Jordan and I had done some light research on an "Escape Room" a few weeks ago.  The concept is quickly becoming popular and I've had several friends and co-workers recommend it.  The premise is much like a giant puzzle or scenario.  They lock a group of people into a room or series of rooms and the group (typically 4 to 8 people) has to solve puzzles and look for clues to help them "escape."  The idea sounds a little scary, but I promise it is safe and a lot of fun. We chose to go with a company aptly named The Escape Room because they had a location in Southlake.  Southlake was a good midway meeting point between FtW and Dallas!  Th

Birthday Fun Day

I feel like I had an epic birthday celebration last weekend! I can't believe a whole year has already passed!  How could that be?  It's true that time goes by faster with each passing year.  When I think about all the exciting things that have happened in the last year, it is very humbling! My birthday fell on a Sunday this year and the timing worked out perfect to visit with some out of town friends who were already in the Dallas area.  I met some lovely ladies for dinner to catch up and they surprised me with a little birthday treat!  It's touching to have such sweet friends! Top Left: L to R - Me, Neda, Laura, and Laura!  The four of us don't often get a chance to visit because we have all moved to different cities or different companies, but we always have a great time  when we can get together!  Friday night we had cocktails and dinner at Del Frisco's Grille .  The food was amazing but the company was better!
