Logs and Stones

Image
Oy, I meant to share this post days ago but the week got away from me.  Last weekend Jordan and I enjoyed a lazy weekend at the lake with Mom and Dad.  And by lazy, I mean it was a weekend of tree choppin' and hole digging...lol.  Really, though, it was a relaxing visit.   Part of the reason we wanted to visit was to see little Sophie.  She recently had surgery to remove a stone from her bladder.  This sucker was huge considering she is a 16lb pup! The vet actually put the stone in a jar so that my parents could keep it.  Gross!  Still, it was interesting to see this stone up close and personal.  Sophie's surgery was a success and she has recovering nicely. This is poor little Sophie waking up from the anesthesia.   When we got to lake Sophie was already feeling like her normal grumpy self again! Mom and Dad decided to put a sign in their yard at the lake so Jordan and Dad got the jack-hammer to get digging!  I've actually never seen a

Ides of February

I hope everyone is doing well this morning!  February has gone by in such a flash!  I wanted to share this little post about our Valentine's day and President's Day!  Jordan and I talk about all the interesting things to do and see in our area but we never seem to have the time to visit all those interesting landmarks.  The DFW area is a huge place full of museums, zoos, activities, etc.  Last summer we explored the Perot Museum and this time, we decided visit the 6th Floor Museum .  I recently finished reading " Killing Kennedy " by Bill O'Reilly and thought it would be interesting to see the artifacts from the book. It was pretty timely because Valentine's Day fell on a Sunday and it seemed fitting that we would tour the 6th Floor so close to President's Day! Top Left: This is a picture of us on our way into the museum!  The museum is confined to the 6th and 7th floors of an unassuming building and the rest of the floors are used as offi

Super Sportsing

The Superbowl happened more than a week ago but I just love this picture of Abby and I.  In our household, the Superbowl is only a marginally important event.  I mean, the commercials tend to be the most exciting part of the game to me.  It's not that we don't like football...I'm just meh about the outcome when I don't even know the teams.  For Abby, the Superbowl is super nap-time.  She was in the zzzzone, snoozing through the whole game. Let's see, not much else has been going on in our little world.  We've been trying to clean up our yard a little bit now that the weather has been nicer outside.  Our new fence is so pretty and we've been trying to get things put back together.  While trimming up our tree I noticed that our Live Oak has some kind of growth on it.  When we first moved into our house we had to chop down our front yard tree because it was completely eaten up by bugs.  The first year that we lived in our house we planted the Li

Playa del Carmen 2016

I've got some exciting pictures to share with you all today.  Last month, Jordan and I took a vacation in Playa del Carmen, Mexico!  Gosh, it was amazing and I can honestly say I miss the beach!  Even though our trip came right after the holidays, it was a good time to be in Mexico.  The temperature was in the 60's and 70's every day and we didn't have to fight a bunch of crowds.  I'll dive right in with pictures for y'all. Top Left: Plane selfie!  Our flight out was really great because the flight was only half full.  Jordan and I had 3 seats to spread out comfortably. Bottom Left: Upon check-in at the resort, they hand each guest a flute of champagne.  We stayed at the Royal all inclusive resort.  This was our first "all inclusive" experience and it felt similar to a cruise. Top Right: The lobby was huge and they had fresh flower arrangements all over the place! Bottom Right: Day 1 of vacation! We booked this trip with our

Party Rocker Christmas

Hi Everyone!  It has been a full month since my last post and I honestly don't know if it was intentional or not.  We had an amazing Christmas break and rolled into the new year smoothly.  I suspect that I shy away from writing new postswhen its dark and cold outside.   At any rate, I have Christmas and New Year pictures to share!  We spent our Christmas break with my family this year and I really enjoyed staying in the metroplex area.  I'm so grateful that we have a large extended family but it's tough to travel for every holiday.  I was thrilled to get a break from work so the pictures started en route! Our car was loaded down!  In the top left picture you can see all our jazz loaded up.  The only person who packs light in our family is Jordan.  Abby and I both come with lots of gear.   Bottom Right - Despite the shorter travel, Abby was so over being in the car after an hour. Christmas Day was magical.  Family, friends, and fantastic food feeds the soul!
