Hot Wings and Hot Wheels

Image
This past weekend we visited family and friends at the lake.  As always, we thoroughly enjoyed the activities, company, and food!  There has been lots of activity at the late recently, mostly due to the recent tractor purchase mom and dad made.  If there is an outdoor job that requires any kind of muscle at all, the tractor is the machine of choice.  I didn't realize there was so much that could be done with a tractor!  In general, there are a LOT of vehicles at the lake.  Jordan got to counting on our way home and realized that he had driven 8 different vehicles/machines in one weekend and that's not counting our own car! Top Left: Scott's fancy new "office"!  Isn't it pretty!  It was cool to learn about the bells and whistles on this truck.  The display panel had apps just like a phone so it was pretty impressive.  He also got a nice bedliner to protect it from dinks and scratches.  In this pic Jordan is moving the truck out of the way (while grinn

Chicken Scratch

Good day! This is the first time for me (Jordan) to chime in on this blog in the forefront. I wanted to talk about a great time Kathy and I recently had with a good friend.  A few weeks ago, we received a call from a friend we haven't seen in years.  Our college buddy, David, was in town and wanted to meet up for dinner if we were available. We checked our calendar and as luck would have it, we had an opening for the following evening. The next conundrum was to decide where to eat.  Uncharacteristically, Kathy left the restaurant decision up to me (I know, I was surprised too).  David, was staying in downtown Dallas and we thought it'd be a great idea to try a new venue outside our suburban bubble. I immediately made a few Yelp inquiries, but then asked a co-worker for some suggestions. In the end, the three of us decided to go to a place called, Chicken Scratch! It was in a remote part of the western side of downtown Dallas. At first, we thought we might have typed in the wro

Collections

Image
Some of you may know that I have a rather excessive sense of sentimentality.  I don't really know where it comes from, but I'm working on it...  At any rate, I have some collections to share with ya'll today. The last couple weekends have been busy, but I finally got around to a little project that I had planned to do after our Nimbus trip in June of this year.  3 or 4 months after the fact, I've completed this project and put our sand from Jacksonville, FL (Sawgrass) and Gulf Shores, AL into our sand collection. This all started with a little jar of sand from our honeymoon and I never really intend to make a whole collection out of it.  Still, the collection developed over time and I now have sand from all over the world in these tiny jars!   In a very small way, it's a quick reminder of all the adventures that we've had on our vacations! Top : This is the entire collection (so far).  I think it's interesting how some sands are white and others

It's a Frozen Summer

Now that school has started back up, it's hard not to see the tell-tell signs that Summer is coming to a close.  It's actually kind of an exciting time of year.  The Fall means that football season is here (sun's up, guns up!), it means that boot season is here, and things are about to get super busy.  Love it! In the bitter sweet spirit of Summer ending, I have quite a picture show for you today.  I'm a few weeks behind in my planned posts, but that's beginning to be the "normal" theme on this blog.  It's okay, we'll live. Last weekend was Labor Day weekend and we had such an action packed couple of days!  We started in San Antonio on Saturday morning to visit some family and celebrate some very important birthdays!  Our niece, Mady, and nephew, Austin, were turning 4 and 2 years old!  Their birthday is only 1 day apart so the timing is nice for family to celebrate and see them both!  (Don't worry, Brooklyn, we love you too!)
